There has been a “War on Christmas” for years now in the United States and I am here to set the record straight.

CHRISTMAS …

Is NOT a war on human happiness, it is not a competition nor a protest on peace. It is not a Day to emotionally injure and offend those who believe there is no God or to make people feel forgotten, excluded and hurt.

It is simply a BIRTHDAY PARTY for a Man/a God who gave His life that the human race might find and choose love.

On Christmas, we sing carols to remember the Savior of the world; we make food and drink eggnog all in the “Spirit” of the One who came and filled our hearts with Joy.

We give affection a bit more, laugh a little harder, and breathe deep the satisfaction of a heart saved through Christ. We give gifts… because really … the only way to respond to the greatest gift of eternal life, is to to overflow with generosity ourselves.

Needless to say, it disturbs my spirit when I see the news and hear people mocking my precious Lord and His day of birth. Things said regarding His birthday as “close minded” and “intolerant” make me cringe …

When people say, “Happy Holidays” I do not feel “Happy” at all. It is a fancy way to remove Christ from His own birthday … and I refuse to say it! I don’t see anyone saying “Happy Holidays” around President’s Day or Valentine’s Day …

And the reason? Because it is ONLY Christmas that seems to cause serious upset. It is that Powerfully Precious name no one can seem to endure …

But I say …

Who are you to tell the Savior of the World that He shouldn’t have a Birthday Party?

What would you do, on your birthday, if someone told you- you were intolerant and discriminatory and that everyone’s birthday should be celebrated today, not only yours?

You would probably declare them a halfwit and go on celebrating with your family and friends … Why? … because this is the thought process of an insane person …

Right?

Well … many disagree.

There are numbers of people in this Country who refuse to say “Merry Christmas” anymore because they feel this way. They believe Christians are playing the “exclusion” game of religion, when really we are just trying to celebrate our Best Friend’s Birthday in a nation that was founded upon His name.

Sure, we believe His birthday is the Most Important Day of the Year and sure, we don’t believe Kwanza or Hanukah is the main event … but there is a reason for this.

We are AMERICA!

We are a nation founded on the principles of Christ and His Holy Word. We have never been a Muslim, Jewish, Hindi, or a Buddhist, nation.

There are countless examples of signers of the Declaration of Independence, clergyman, attorneys, and brilliant minds like Benjamin Franklin-devoting their work to Christ … including the founding of a new World … The United States.

Franklin based the integrity of America on the Word of God; he once said in the Constitutional Convention that “We should remember the character which SCRIPTURE requires in rulers.” And Patrick Henry (who championed the Bill of Rights) felt as if Christ was the one thing to make a man truly rich.

Before all the crazy fear was placed upon us by those who do not believe in Christ, Christmas was a time for everyone to feel loved. OUR GOD IS LOVE and so, in the true Spirit of Christ, we do not hold Christmas to ourselves but relinquish it freely.

I once did a paper for my University to see if people were really put off by my cheery “Merry Christmas” greeting.

Do you know what I discovered? 90% of people actually loved to hear the phrase “Merry Christmas” and most of them did not even believe in Christ!

It seems as if the complaints of a few have become the thought processes of many, simply through the views of the media and certain politicians causing us to believe our Faith is offensive.

Don’t believe the lies!

Christianity is all about giving Christ’s love to the “Jew as well as to the Gentile” (Romans 1:16).

Christ is for the whole world and Christmas is too! If other countries have decided not to adopt our God that is their decision, but in this country-instituted on Jesus Christ- Christmas is a time for us to thank the God who gave us hope.

We do not horde eternal life to ourselves, so we should not stand by as unbelievers try to make our sacred day a mockery.

We are Americans. We are are Christ-followers. This is our Nation. And This is Our Lord! So if saying “Merry Christmas” offends …so be it.

All I know is …

I don’t see anyone trying to change a National Holiday in a Muslim Country…I think the results would be a lot less peaceful.

Catch the Wave,

Victoria
