These three fashion tips are not for those blessed states I refer to as the “four season wonders” who receive snow, ice, or some assemblance of a January Winter. This blog is for those who go to their closets each winter morn saying, “Ugg boots or flip flops?”  Will it truly be Winter? Or will I end up sweating bullets in my fave new wool sweater and boots?

So… what do you do?

Well…first you go onto your handy dandy “Weather App” to confirm your suspicions of the day… But then You…

Tip #1 Layer!

Layering is not just something teeny boppers do when they cannot decide what to wear, it is actually an extremely useful way to dress! Here in SoCal, when it is 80 degrees one day and 60 the next, layering can save you a whole lot of time and hassle!

Just slip on your favorite pair of blue jeans, keds and/or flip flops, a T-shirt, your favorite cardigan, a puffer vest, a skinny pashmina, and a pair of “back up Uggs” —for those moments winter actually sweeps past. This way you are prepared for whatever comes!

Tip #2 Go Shopping!

Never forget that January is the best time of year to get that coat or sweater you were hoping for on Christmas Day!  Sales are everywhere this time of year. Just remember to stick to timeless pieces such as the classic peacoat in dark grey or black, woolly socks, or even a cashmere turtleneck (cotton is kind but wool is … well it’s just itchy and should be avoided at all costs).

Tip #3 Switch!

Whether guy or gal, carry your favorite leather bag or purse to hold your “summer in January” reinforcement accessories. Use your handbag to whip out your shades, hold a pair of flip flops, and store away your scarf to make an effortless switcharoo midday when the sun decides to shine!
