“Obedience to His promptings, is Worship.”
Kathryn Scott- Writer of the song, “Hungry.”

Along with Worship being characterized by the ability to direct Honor to the One it is due, worship is also shown through simple obedience. In John 14:15 Jesus tells the disciples that if they really love Him, they will do what He commands.

The same is true for us today. There is no “Super-Suit” for Worship! You don’t have to feel as if you have been swept up into a cloud of holiness to know that you have had an encounter with God!

By being sensitive to His Spirit and promptly obeying whatever it is you believe He is telling you, you are “performing” the truest sense of Worship.

Have you ever had a friend say they really cared for you, but anytime you asked them to do something, they were just not interested?

It’s a bit like that with Jesus. He doesn’t want to hear our flattering lips if we are not going to put action behind our words!

We were created to worship God! Yet if we say we love Him, but always make excuses for why we cannot do what He has requested, our “love” for Him is merely delusion.

Worship starts in the heart…

This is a totally hippie way of saying, if your heart is not in what you do for God, don’t even bother pretending that what you do is for Him at all.

God would rather have you shun Him, than to say you love Him, yet continuously doing your own thing (see Rev. 3:15-16). Jesus is not impressed by our words or our works if our hearts are not worshipful when we do them.

My Mom says this to me frequently, “Every choice you make will decide your destiny.” Make sure that what you choose to do today stems from a place of humility because when our hearts are humble before God, it crushes the pride we so often find ourselves in that says, “But God, I know better!”

Remember that Christ paid a price for you to enjoy your life and have it in abundance (John 10:10). No request He gives will ever be to your detriment.

To Obey. THIS IS WORSHIP.
